LEARN2PLAY ICE HOCKEY PROGRAM AND PLAYER SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Have you ever wanted to play ice hockey? Want to try it out? Or do you wish to develop your ice hockey skills further?

Darwin Ice Skating is very pleased to advise that it has engaged the National Sport Academy (NSA) Hockey to help establish a strong and reputable ice hockey program at the ice rink, based on the successful Learn2Play ice hockey program developed by NSA. In particular, John Kennedy Jr, Director with the NSA, will be directly involved, bringing his experience and renowned playing and coaching skills to the Top End.

This is really an exciting development for Darwin – the emergence of a new ice sport. Ice hockey is skillful, fun, great for fitness, and building friendships.

The program in Darwin will comprise the elements shown in the table below.

The NTG’s Sports Vouchers may be used towards the cost of the Learn2Play or Development Sessions.

Minimum equipment to participate in Learn2Play will be: helmet, gloves, elbow pads, and shin guards. Limited equipment available at the rink.

Minimum equipment to participate in Development Sessions will be: helmet + visor or cage, neck guard (if under 18 yrs of age), shoulder pads, gloves, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin guards, hockey stick, skates.

We recommend www.skatersnetwork.com.au for your hockey gear, and if you place your order through Darwin Ice Skating, you do not pay any freight costs.

Expressions of interest should be emailed to info@darwiniceskating.com.au, indicating whether you would like to participate in either Learn2Play or Development Sessions. Please do so by COB Friday 16 February 2018 so that we can lock in the first NSA on-site visit.

On a final but important note, thankyou very much to those down south that have donated hockey gear following NSA’s call out. Truly appreciated and we certainly feel part of the ice hockey family, even though we’re way up north.
