Off Ice Training

Off ice training is an integral part of figure skating training, and ultimately speeds up a skater’s progression on the ice. Darwin Ice Skating will be running an off ice conditioning program to assist in increasing skaters’ competency on the ice.

These classes will run once a week on Fridays for 8 weeks from 2 February to 8 March, and then from 29 March to 5 April at two different times (see below). Skaters who are enrolled in intermediate 1 through to upper skating levels can choose to attend either one, or both of the classes. The focus points will be agility, spins, balance, artistry, resistance training, and flexibility. Focus will be placed on proper form and skill development. Everyone will be given individual consideration as to their ability and flexibility level. Care will be taken that each skater does not over-stretch or practice moves outside of their capability.
